India captain Rohit Sharma hailed Jasprit Bumrah's spell in the Vizag Test against England as unreal as the pacer led India to the win in the second match.

Bumrah picked up six wickets in the first innings to steamroll the English batting order as they collapsed to concede India the lead in the match. He would come back to pick up three more wickets in the second innings as India won the match by 106 runs to level the series.

Speaking to Team45Ro, the Indian skipper said that he had never seen any pacer bowl like that in India.

“That Bumrah spell at Vizag was unreal. On a flat pitch and 35-36 degrees, it is nearly impossible for a fast bowler to bowl that spell. And then comes Bumrah, who gets the ball to reverse both sides and brings the team into the game. I have never seen any fast bowler in India bowled the way he has bowled and got us those wickets," Rohit Sharma said in an interview with team45ro.

India would then go on to thrash England in the series and win it 4-1 in the end and Rohit felt it was only possible after Bumrah and Yashasvi Jaiswal put their hands up in the second match and stepped up for India.

“(Yashasvi) Jaiswal’s innings (209) covered half the percentage of the team’s score, while the next best was 30-40. For us to come back into the Test series and perhaps win the next three matches on the trot, someone had to put their hand up to bail the team out in the second match. And for the same, there was Bumrah and Jaiswal," Rohit Sharma added.

Bumrah would end the series with 19 wickets in 4 matches. The Indian pacer will now linkup with Rohit at Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024 campaign. MI will start their campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 24.
