The T20 Women’s Asia World Cup has started from July 19th onwards, where at least eight teams have participated to face off against each other in order to win the title. The opening match was started yesterday, and once again, our Team India’s pride had initially started a wonderful beginning by winning a match against Pakistan by 7 wickets.

The opening match of India against Pakistan was scheduled for Friday at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka. The match begins with Pakistan winning the toss and opting to bat first. The experienced spinner Deepti Sharma has emerged as the best bowler to clean out Pakistan at 108 runs in 19.2 overs. In the second innings, India makes a victory with 109 runs in 14.1 overs after an unfortunate loss of three wickets. In order to maintain good pressure over the opponent team, the Indian women bowlers, Renuka Singh (2/14) and Pooja Vastrakar (2/31) have made a significant contribution to the match.

However, excellent batting was done by Smriti Mandhana, the queen of RCB, who has made 45 runs, whereas Shafali Verma has reached 40 runs. Although, in the second over, India often took its first wicket, Pooja Vastrakar disbanded Gull Feroza with a catchout by Captain Harmanpreet Kaur. She took another wicket from opener Muneeba Ali, and by the fifth over, Pakistan was at a 26-run rate with a loss of 2 wickets. Later on, off-spinner Shyreyanka Patil dismissed Aliya Riaz through a catch done by Rodriguez at mid-wicket.

However, Pakistan skipper Nida Dar was dismissed by the superb bowling done by Deepti. On the other hand, Renuka Singh has bowled twice, taking wickets from Sidra Amin and Iram Javed. Moreover, Hassan and Fatima’s partnership has continued over a run rate of about 31 runs. Though the partnership ended after the wicket of Tuba Hussan, At last, team India bagged off three wickets to achieve victory over the match.

Now, after an excellent victory for India over Pakistan, it would be interesting to see the upcoming matches against the UAE on July 21st at 2 p.m. and Nepal on July 23rd from 7 p.m. onwards.
