Day 2 of the French Open 2024 is set to witness the return of the mighty Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard has a stiff task on hand as he will lock horns with World No.4 Alexander Zverev in the opening-round match at Court Philippe-Chatrier. Nadal won the clay-court Major back in 2022, but given his recent form, it remains to be seen if he can take down Zverev, who recently won the Italian Open title.
Iga Swiatek, looking for a hat-trick of titles at Roland Garros, would up against France’s Leolia Jeanjean. Ons Jabeur and Gaël Monfils also have matches on Centre Court. Jannik Sinner, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina start their journeys in the first-round contests at Court Suzanne-Lenglen. The focus will also be on Daniil Medvedev and Maria Sakkari, who will both play at Court Simonne-Mathieu.
India’s Sumit Nagal also begins his campaign as he will face 18th seed Karen Khachanov in the first round. Having earlier won his opening round match in the Australian Open, it remains to be seen if he can replicate something similar at Roland Garros.
