Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing the party of attempting to divide the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) for political gains. Addressing a rally in Maharashtra’s Nanded, the Prime Minister claimed that Congress is unable to accept that the country has had an OBC Prime Minister for the past ten years who has worked to uplift all sections of society.
“Congress cannot tolerate the fact that there is an OBC Prime Minister who is taking everyone along with him,” PM Modi said.
He alleged that Congress is trying to eliminate the unified identity of the OBC community by splitting it into smaller caste groups to weaken its influence.
“Congress is playing the game of eliminating the identity of OBC and dividing them into different castes. Congress wants to snatch the identity of the large group of OBC and divide it into different castes with smaller groups. You will have to stay vigilant of Congress' divisive tactics. You will have to stay aware about Congress' hidden agenda of breaking and destroying the country. 'Hum ek hai toh safe hain'," the Prime Minister added.
Addressing the rally ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly polls, PM Modi reiterated, “Hum ek hail toh safe hain” (We are safe if we are united).
This is the second time the prime minister said this slogan in Maharashtra. Earlier on Friday (November 8), addressing his first poll rally in Maharashtra’s Dhule, PM Modi accused the Congress and its allies of pitting one caste against another and asked people to stay united, saying "Ek hai, toh safe hai.”
At the rally, PM Modi said the INDIA bloc is flaunting blank books passing them off as the Constitution to provoke Dalits and Adivasis.
The Prime Minister said the Congress and its allies should not encourage the “Pakistan agenda” and speak the language of separatists. The agenda won’t succeed till he has people’s blessings, PM Modi had said.
Maharashtra will vote in a single phase on November 20. Counting of votes will take place three days later on November 23.
