Top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda, on Monday added the "Modi ka Parivar" slogan on their handles on the X social media platform. The development came hours after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav said at a rally that the Prime Minister "does not have a family of his own".
Earlier in the day while addressing a public meeting in Telangana's Adilabad, the Prime Minister said that his new slogan ahead of the Lok Sabha polls this year is "you are Modi’s and Modi is yours".
He also said that the "entire nation is saying in one voice today, 'main hu Modi ka Parivar' (I am Modi's family)".
While addressing the 'Jan Vishwas Maha Rally' at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Sunday, Lalu Yadav had criticised the Prime Minister over his remarks on nepotism,
The new slogan is reminiscent of the 2019 "Main bhi Chowkidar Hoon" campaign which was prompted by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remark "Chowkidar chor hai".
The Congress MP had made the remarks while accusing Modi of corruption in the Rafale fighter jet deal.
Just before the elections took place in May 2019, the Prime Minister launched the poll campaign in March that year by posting a video on X (then Twitter) with the hashtag #MainBhiChowkidar.
Some of the other top BJP leaders who have put the 'Modi ka Parivar' slogan on their profiles on X include Union Ministers Anurag Thakur, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Piyush Goyal; and Chief Ministers Yogi Adityanath, Vishnu Deo Sai and Pramod Sawant, among others.
In his address at the public meeting in Adilabad, Telangana, the Prime Minister also said that "crores of people of the country consider me as their own, as a member of their family".
"I say this to the 140 crore people of the country that this is my family. Those who have no one also belong to Modi and Modi belongs to them." the Prime Minister added.
