As ex-Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot joined the BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that Gahlot is free to make his own decisions.

When asked about former AAP leader Kailash Gahlot joining the BJP, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, "He is free; he can go wherever he wants."

On Sunday, Gahlot, in his resignation letter addressed to Arvind Kejriwal, cited unfulfilled promises and recent controversies as the reason for quitting the party.

Gahlot, the MLA from Najafgarh and a former aide of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, resigned from the council of ministers. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi later accepted his resignation.

In his resignation letter, Gahlot slammed the party for failing to meet key promises. He pointed to the unfulfilled pledge to clean the Yamuna River, describing it as a commitment the party had made to voters. “We promised the people a cleaner Yamuna, but we have failed to deliver on that commitment,” he wrote.

He also mentioned the controversy over Arvind Kejriwal’s new official residence. “There are several embarrassing and bizarre issues like Sheeshmahal, which have now led people to question whether we still believe in being the party of the common man," he said.

Meanwhile, on Gahlot's resignation, senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak said that the former Delhi Minister was being questioned by the central probe agencies, like the ED and Income Tax Department, for several months, pointing out that Gahlot was not able to withstand the pressure and decided to quit the party.
