There were dramatic scenes at an event attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Saharsa district on Friday as people looted fish kept there as part of an exhibition.
There was huge chaos as people jumped into the biofloc tank and looted all the fish as soon as Nitish Kumar left the site.
The Bihar Chief Minister had arrived in Saharsa to participate in various government programmes. During this, he first inaugurated the Maa Vishhari temple located at Diwari and then left for Amarpur where he inspected an exhibition.
At the exhibition, a biofloc tank was installed by the fisheries department in which a lot of live fish were kept. The people, especially children and adolescents, pounced on the fish.
Moments later, people could be seen holding fish in their hands. One of the youths said that they had come there to catch the fish and not to see Nitish Kumar.
Meawnhile, District Fisheries Officer Subodh Kumar said that they had organised a demonstration for the Chief Minister, but ended up suffering losses.
"After the event was over, people pounced on the fish, and looted it. They also damaged the biofloc tank in the process. We suffered a loss of around Rs 45,000 due to this act of the people", Kumar said.
