The Calcutta High Court, on Tuesday, gave their statement about the ex-principle of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, “to go on leave.” Amid the ongoing protest in the medical college and hospital after the rape and murder case of a female trainee on the campus, the court has asked the principal to resign, and he should be the first person whom the police should interrogate.
"The principal of RG Kar College, Sandeep Ghosh, should go on leave today. Otherwise, I will give him an order and ask him. Has his statement been taken?" The Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court said this today. He directed the ex-principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to leave his post and resign. After submitting the resignation letter, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh was again appointed as the principal of Calcutta National Medical College. The court claimed that Mr. Ghosh was responsible for caring for the staff and hospital members, and he failed to do so.
“Why are you protecting him? Record his statement. Let him tell whatever he knows," the court asked the state's counsel. The High Court called the rape and murder case “so gruesome." “We cannot gag the press. What assurance are you (the state) giving to doctors? They are hurt. The incident is so gruesome. They (doctors) are justified in expressing their emotions," the court stated. The court even asked the former principal to stay at home and not do any work.
The post-mortem report of the sufferer's body stated that there was a deep injury inside her private parts, which itself explains that she had suffered from “genetic torture." Bleeding was happening in the victim’s eyes, mouth, and private parts. One of the most severe cases of rape and murder has been registered in Calcutta, and several people are protesting to get justice for the victim and her family.
BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi expressed his disappointment over the case and the carelessness of the West Bengal government. "The way protection has been given to the criminals in the Kolkata incident is more tragic than the incident itself. The way (RG Kar's) principal has been reappointed as a principal of some other college within 24 hours shows the protection of the Bengal government.
It raises suspicions about the investigation done by the Bengal government. Today, I want to ask why the West Bengal CM has sympathy for that principal. My straight question to the TMC government is why these many days are being given. Is it for manipulation? We have seen this in the Sandeshkhali incident. Why is the investigation not being transferred to the highest investigating agency in the country (CBI)? The parties of the INDI alliance are providing crime cover to the mutual criminal elements," he said.
