Congress national spokesperson Gourav Vallabh tendered his resignation on Thursday in a major blow to the Congress party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Gourav Vallabh, in a letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, called the party 'directionless', and cited reasons for his exit such as the caste census, and said that he cannot raise ‘anti-Sanatan’ slogans.'
"I do not feel comfortable with the directionless way in which the Congress party is moving forward today. I can neither raise anti-Sanatana slogans nor abuse the wealth creators of the country. I am resigning from all posts and primary membership of the Congress party," Gourav Vallabh wrote on X.
Gourav Vallabh, who handled Mallikarjun Kharge’s Congress president campaign, was an effective voice on economic issues.
He contested the Rajasthan assembly election from Udaipur constituency in 2023. However, the BJP candidate secured a comfortable win with a margin of over 32,000 votes.
Gourav Vallabh made his poll debut in 2019 in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur East, where he bagged over 18,000 votes and ended up in third spot behind then-sitting chief minister Raghubar Das and Saryu Roy.
