As the political row over the alleged NEET paper leak simmers, Bihar MP Pappu Yadav wore a t-shirt with "#Re-NEET" inscribed on it as he took oath as Member of Parliament on Tuesday.

A day ago, Yadav, the Independent MP from Bihar's Purnea, questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) taking over the probe into irregularities in medical entrance exam NEET-UG.

"The case has been handed over to the CBI because the Bihar Police's Economic Offences Unit wanted to interrogate National Testing Agency (NTA) officials... That is why they quickly ordered a CBI probe. We will raise the issue in Parliament and demand a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into it," Yadav said.

With the paper leak angle under the spotlight, several students across the nation demanded a re-examination. However, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the cancellation of the exam would be an injustice to those who rightfully cleared it.

"It's unfair to hold hostage the careers of those candidates who have rightfully cleared the exam because of some isolated incidents of malpractice."

The Centre has recently notified the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
