A day before taking oath as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu said on Tuesday that Amaravati would be the state capital.

Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said that Amaravati would be the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu vowed that Amaravati would be the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh and also promised to complete the Polavaram Project.

He added the Visakhapatnam will be developed as the economic capital and an advanced special city.

"Amaravati will be our capital. We will pursue constructive politics, and not politics of vendetta. Visakhapatnam will be the commercial capital of the state. We will not play games with people like trying to have three capitals and such devious activities. Visakhapatnam has given a full mandate. We will develop Rayalaseema to give us a resounding mandate," Chandrababu Naidu said.

Chandrababu Naidu made the announcement at the NDA Legislative Party meeting held at Vijayawada, during which he was unanimously elected the alliance’s leader of the House.

Jana Sena Party chief K Pawan Kalyan proposed his name, and this was supported by BJP state president and newly elected MP D Purandeswari.

Chandrababu Naidu, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan reach Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada to stake claim to form the government.
