A 26-year-old man residing as a paying guest in Delhi lost his life due to electrocution on Monday afternoon. The man, identified as Nilesh Rai, was preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.

The accident occurred close to Patel Nagar metro station.

Around 2.43 pm, information was received by the Ranjit Nagar Police Station that a person was stuck to an iron gate due to an electric current. Upon reaching the scene, authorities found a man electrocuted, with the iron gate being live with current.

The road in the area was also waterlogged, adding to the hazardous conditions.

Nilesh was immediately taken to RML Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

An FIR has been registered at PS Ranjit Nagar under sections 106(1) (death due to negligence) and 285 (Danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The forensic team has visited the crime scene to determine how the gate became electrified, and further investigations are underway.
