A 19-year-old man in the Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh was arrested for the rape and murder of his 17-year-old sister. The incident took place on the night of February 3, after the accused, identified as Sanju, watched a pornographic video on his mobile phone.
The siblings were alone at home when the crime occurred; their mother was away visiting relatives. According to the police, Sanju, after watching a porn clip, raped his sister who was sleeping beside him. Overcome with fear that she might reveal what he had done, Sanju strangled his sister and fled the scene.
The following day, on February 4, the victim's uncle, Radheshyam, lodged a complaint against Sanju. A manhunt ensued, and the police arrested the accused on February 5. During questioning, Sanju admitted to his crimes.
The Superintendent of Police in Kasganj confirmed that a mobile phone with obscene videos was recovered from Sanju. The accused has since been sent to judicial custody.
