New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry postpones NEET PG exam 2022 by 6-8 weeks. The decision came ahead of the plea filed in the Supreme Court seeking postponement of the exam. As per the notification, NEET PG will no longer be held on March 12. The new dates are yet to be announced.Candidates have also asked for an extension of the internship deadline.Citing why there was a need to taken the decision, the ministry said that they are considering the step as the NEET PG 2021 counselling dates were clashing with the NEET PG exam dates and some candidates where not able to complete their internships till March (when NEET PG was to be held). Here’s the official notice:“I am directed to say that lot of representations were being received from medical doctors regarding a request to delay NEET PG 2022 date… since it is clashing with NEET PG 2021 counselling. Also, many of interns would not be able to participate in the PG counselling 2022 by the month of May/June 2022. Keeping the above facts in view, HFM has taken the decision to postpone NEET PG 2022 by 6-8 weeks or suitably,” read an official notice from Dr B Srinivas, executive director, National Board of Examination (NBE) Extension of Internship DeadlineCandidates alleged that they were put on Covid duty and hence were not able to complete one year of the deadline. The NEET PG internship completion deadline was March 31. Candidates seek an extension to the deadline. For this, the plea has been filed in the Supreme Court. It also suggests considering the covid-19 duty as part of the internship to complete years. Those who do not complete internship will not be eligible for NEET PG.Also, the decision came after students were demanding a gap between the exam and the counselling process so that those who do not get a seat during the counselling can appear for the NEET PG 2022. As per the existing schedule, NEET PG 2022 was scheduled to be held on March 12 and the last date to join medical colleges after the NEET PG counselling stray round was March 16. Taking to Twitter with the hashtag #Postponeneetpg2022, students have now put forth their grievances.”The fresh dates for the exam are yet to be announced, informed Union Health Ministry.
