In a shocking incident from Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain, a 12-year-old girl, bleeding and in a semi-naked condition after allegedly being raped, was refused help. The incident was caught on CCTV camera at Badnagar road, about 15 km from Ujjain.
In the video, the minor, semi-naked and visibly injured, was seen going from door to door asking for help but to no avail. She was even shooed away by a man standing outside his home when she approached him for help.
According to reports, the girl eventually reached an Ashram and a priest covered her with a towel and rushed her to the district hospital. The minor’s medical examination at the district hospital confirmed rape.
The girl was then referred to Indore as her injuries were serious. Police personnel came forward to donate blood when she needed it during her treatment. Her condition is now learnt to be stable.
The girl could not answer coherently when police asked her name and address.
A case of rape has been against unidentified accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Ujjain police chief Sachin Sharma said a special team has been formed to identify and catch the accused at the earliest.
“The medical examination has confirmed rape. We have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and closely following this. We appeal to the people to inform police if they get any information,” Sharma said.
“The girl was not able to tell us exactly where she is from. But her accent suggests she is from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh,” he added. Uttar Pradesh police has also been contacted in the case.
