A 21-year-old engineering student was arrested on Friday for allegedly recording women in the college's bathroom.
The accused threatened the complainants after he was caught recording. He allegedly threatened to kill them if they escalated the issue and reported him. The complainants claimed that the accused recorded the videos on his phone and was circulating them on social media.
A massive protest broke out at the college campus after the incident came to light. Visuals showed hundreds of protesters, including both men and women, agitating over the matter as the police tried to pacify them.
Classes were suspended on September 19, following protests by the students.
Police sources told India Today that the student had recorded nearly eight videos on his mobile. Students alleged that the 21-year-old may have been a habitual offender.
Further investigation into the matter is underway to ascertain the allegations made by the complainants.
