New Delhi: Days after Centre urged the Supreme Court to hear the petitions of people dissatisfied by the reservation criteria set by the government, the Apex Court today pronunced its decision in the NEET PG counselling case, according to which, the Court supported the existing criteria and also allowed NEET-PG Counselling, that got hindered by the protests.As per the order, the Supremes Court has set the criterion pf ₹ 8 Lakh annual incomr for this academic year, and for further decisions or to resolve the issue to the full extent the court will consider the hearing in March 2022.“In EWS, we've upheld the criteria for this year so that the admissions are not dislocated for the current academic year. We will hear the petition with respect to the EWS criteria later,”the bench comprising of Justices DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna was quoted as saying by LiveLaw.We are in a situation, where in the national interest, the counselling has to begin,the Supreme Court has said on Thursday.BackgroundThe development comes in regard to the protests that had continuously been going for causing delay in NEET-PG counselling that according to the government got hampered due to the final decision on Admission criteria for OBC & EWS awaited. As of now, the Apex Court has allowed the NEET-PG Counselling for newbies, and also upheld the existing criteria of reservation.(With Inputs From Agencies)
