A passenger train was halted on the Buxar-Patna rail section on Sunday after its coupling broke, resulting in the splitting of the train into two in Bihar's Buxar district, news agency PTI reported.
The incident happened at around 11.08 am when New Delhi-Islampur Magadh Superfast Express was running between Turiganj and Raghunathpur railway stations in Buxar. No passengers were hurt in the incident, the news agency added.
Speaking to the news agency PTI, the Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway Sharswati Chandra said, "Yes, the incident took place when the coupling of the Magadh Express (20802) from New Delhi to Islampur broke, splitting the train into two between Turiganj and Raghunathpur railway stations. A rescue team as well as technical teams have reached the spot and officials are trying to rectify it at the earliest".
An inquiry will be ordered to probe the exact cause of the incident, he said.
Earlier in July this year, at least three people were killed and 30 others injured after eight bogies of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Uttar Pradesh's Gonda railway station.
The train, which left from Chandigarh station at 11.35 pm on July, was bound for Dibrugarh in Assam. The derailment happened between Motiganj-Jhilahi railway stations in Gonda district at around 2.35 pm on Thursday.
