Following the repeal of Article 370, new militant groups like Kashmir Tigers have been accused by police of conducting attacks. Two prominent groups, The Resistance Front (TRF) and People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF), have emerged. Meanwhile, established groups such as Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Toiba, and Jaish-e-Mohammed continue to operate in the background.

Security forces note a shift in the naming conventions of these groups from religious to more “secular” names, distancing themselves from associations with Pakistan and religious connotations. This change aims to portray militancy as indigenous and secular.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is assisting the Jammu and Kashmir Police in investigating a tragic terrorist attack on an Army convoy in Kathua. The attack resulted in the deaths of five personnel and left five others injured.
