A 32-year-old woman's body was retrieved on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district, four months after she was allegedly murdered by her gym trainer.
The body of the woman, Ekta Gupta, 32, was retrieved from a club, located near the official residence of Kanpur's District Magistrate, by the police four months after she was allegedly kidnapped and killed by her gym trainer Vimal Soni.
The recovery was made after the police arrested Soni. During questioning, he informed the police that he and Ekta Gupta after a dispute in their relationship.
The man, a resident of the city's Raipurwa locality, informed the police about the spot from where the woman's body was found after digging the ground.
According to the police, Ekta Gupta went missing on June 24, following which a missing case was filed on the complaint of her husband.
During questioning, Soni informed the police that he and Ekta were in a relationship, but she was upset about his engagement with another woman.
On June 24, Ekta went to the gym and opposed Soni's engagement with another woman, following which he punched the woman leading to her death.
A CCTV footage from inside the gym showed the duo leaving together.
"A case has been registered against Soni under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Based on his indication, the body of the woman has been recovered, and identification has been made by her family. Further legal actions will follow based on the investigation," a senior official of Kanpur Police said.
