External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India's deal with Iran to operate the strategic Chabahar port would benefit the entire region and people should not take a "narrow view of it". Jaishankar's remarks come a day after the United States warned of "potential risk of sanctions" against any country having business dealings with Iran.

The minister stressed that the US itself had appreciated the "larger relevance" of the Chabahar port in the past.

"If you look at the US' own attitude towards the port in Chabahar, the US has been appreciative of the fact that Chabahar has a larger relevance... we will work at it," ANI quoted Jaishankar as saying.
