You eagerly select a window seat, only to discover there’s no window beside it. Sounds bizarre, right? Well, believe it or not, a recent passenger aboard an Indian Railways train experienced just that – a ‘windowless’ window seat, a rarity that sparked a frenzy on social media.
Sharing the unusual sight on Reddit, user @Horror-Entertainer65 posted an image of a seat nestled between two windows inside the Chair Car coach, leaving this particular spot without access to any windows. Posted under the ‘Indian Railways’ subreddit, the OP humorously remarked, “Window sit (seat) I got.”
This peculiar scenario triggered a flood of comments, with users offering witty remarks and humorous observations. “You got charger point though,” quipped one commenter, while another joked, “The worst nightmare is this, pay for window seat what if I get that.” Yet the third commenter humorously mused, “If my kismat was explained in a photo,” while the fourth joked, “Somebody must have stolen window also….typical Indian rail.”
But this isn’t the first instance of a passenger being left windowless despite selecting a window seat. In a similar vein, a passenger aboard a Ryanair flight two years ago shelled out extra cash for a window seat, anticipating breathtaking views of the clouds. However, her excitement turned to disappointment upon realizing that her seat lacked a proper window. Instead, she was greeted with a small circular opening that provided a less-than-ideal outside view.
Taking to social media, she shared a snapshot of her seat, expressing her frustration. The viral image showcased the minuscule opening on the emergency door, clearly not meeting the criteria for a window seat. “Seriously Ryanair, I paid for the window seat,” she lamented alongside the post.
In a cheeky response, the airline defended its stance, circling the small opening on the emergency door in a photo, dubbing it the ‘window’ and justifying the additional charge – much to the amusement and debate of netizens.
