A Hyderabad family recently experienced a horrifying dining ordeal that could send shivers down anyone’s spine at the mere thought of their food. Their Zomato-ordered chicken biryani from Bawarchi Biryani, located at the RTC Crossroads, came with an unexpected and unwelcome addition—a dead lizard. Yes, you read that right. The disturbing incident unfolded as a self-indulgent treat turned into a cause for concern, with a lifeless lizard discovered in the online-ordered chicken biryani. The shocking scenes, captured in a video, have since surfaced on the internet, leaving viewers in disbelief.
Reportedly, Vishwa Aditya from DD Colony, Amberpet, placed an online order for chicken biryani on Zomato. However, upon receiving the parcel, they were greeted with the unpleasant sight of a dead lizard nestled amidst the rice.
The viral video showcases family members holding a plate filled with rice, with nothing but a black lizard lying lifeless in it. Even the packaging from ‘Bawarchi’ was documented and shared along with the footage.
According to the Free Press Journal, the victim of this culinary mishap later took his grievances to the restaurant, staging a protest at its gate alongside his family. The local media reports suggest that this protest significantly impacted the eatery’s business, as word spread about the lizard-in-the-biryani case.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the restaurant has faced such an accusation. In May 2022, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials conducted a raid on the same Bawarchi restaurant following a complaint by a BJP corporator who claimed to have found a lizard in the biryani ordered from the establishment.
Ravi Chari, the corporator from Ramnagar division, visited the restaurant with friends, ordered biryani, and allegedly discovered a lizard midway through the meal. The Food Safety wing officials of the civic body inspected the restaurant and identified certain violations in response to his complaint.
