A 26-year-old former IT employee was arrested by police for allegedly stealing 24 laptops worth over Rs 10 lakh from paying guest (PG) accommodations in Bengaluru.

Jassie Agarwal who hailed from Noida had come to Bengaluru for a job, but she lost her job during Covid.

She then resorted to stealing laptops and gadgets from PGs and selling them in black market in her hometown, eventually turning into a 'full-time thief'. Jassie used to enter empty PG rooms and pick up laptops that were left for charging.

The matter came to light when police received a complaint from a PG resident, who informed them that many laptops were missing.
