A student at an engineering college in Agra was allegedly raped by a senior student from the same institute in a car, police said. After the crime, the accused abandoned her by the roadside. The police have launched a manhunt to trace the accused, who is currently on the run.
According to the student's complaint, the accused, Shivang Singh, her senior from the same institution, wanted to meet her. Upon meeting, Singh, who is from Ghazipur, allegedly forced her into his car in the Sikandra area on the evening of August 10.
The student alleged that the accused tied her hands inside the vehicle, drew a curtain to separate the back seat from the driver, and covered the car windows to prevent anyone from seeing inside. Despite her pleas and attempts to raise an alarm, the accused threatened to kill her and raped her.
After committing the crime, he threw her out of the car and fled the scene, the complaint alleged. The victim managed to reach her room and filed a complaint the following day.
Police said they have launched an investigation and are working to trace the accused, who claims that he has been at IIT Jammu and Kashmir for the past 10 days and hasn’t gone anywhere else. A thorough CCTV examination is also underway.
The case has sparked widespread outrage, with the local community and activists demanding swift justice.
