As the series of wolf attacks continues in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, another such incident has been reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa, where five members of a family were injured in the attack.
The incident occurred early on Friday when the family was sleeping outside their house near a field in the tribal-dominated Khalwa area. A woman sustained wounds on her hands, while four men were bitten on their hands. All of them have been hospitalised.
Following the attack, the villagers caught the wolf, beat it, and tied it with a rope. The animal was seen motionless in visuals. However, forest department officials have not confirmed whether it was killed. They stated that action will be taken after investigating the entire matter.
According to forest department officials, the area, which is just 20 kilometres away from the district headquarters, frequently sees animals like wild dogs, wolves, and foxes roaming around, as it is near forests.
The wolf attack has left 35 villages in the region in a state of fear.
The incident mirrors the series of attacks in Bahraich in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. In the last two months, Bahraich district has recorded around ten deaths, the majority being children. More than 35 people have been injured in these incidents.
The Uttar Pradesh government has declared it a 'wildlife disaster' and has fielded nine shooters to catch the wolves, while residents continue to live in fear.
