Four terrorists were killed by security forces in a joint operation in the Sindhara area of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Tuesday.

The encounter between security forces and terrorists first took place around 11:30 pm on Monday, following which drones were deployed along with other night surveillance equipment.

Early in the morning, the gunfight started again with a heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and terrorists.

The Indian Army said four AK-47 rifles, two pistols and warlike stores were recovered from the possession of the killed terrorists.

The encounter started very close to the place where the troops of an SF unit had recently lost their lives. The first sighting of the terrorists by security forces was made on Monday afternoon.

These terrorists were contained in a small area with additional forces being rushed to cordon off the area.

The Indian Army’s Special Forces, Rashtriya Rifles, and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel along with other forces were part of the operation.

"The terrorists killed in the operation are most likely foreign terrorists and their identities are being ascertained," Indian Army officials said.

Security forces were continuing their search operation in the area.

The latest gunfight came after two terrorists were killed when the Indian Army and the police foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch on Monday.
