Two Indian Army Agniveers lost their lives in an accident when an artillery shell burst during a firing exercise, officials said on Friday.
Agniveers, Gunner Gohil Vishvarajsinh and Gunner Saikat, were killed in the accident, the Army's Southern Command said in a post on X on Friday.
The Agniveers had come from Hyderabad for training at Artillery School in Deolali, Nashik in Maharashtra.
"Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, Army Commander, along with all ranks of Southern Comman, express deep sorrow over the tragic loss of Agniveers, Gunner Gohil Vishvarajsinh and Gunner Saikat from the Artillery Centre, Hyderabad, during a field firing exercise at the Devlali Field Firing Ranges. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their grieving families in this moment of profound loss", the X post read.
The Army has ordered a court of inquiry into the incident to find out the exact cause of the accident, the official added.
"Unfortunately, true. The training accident happened yesterday, and it is being investigated", an earlier statement by the Indian Army said.
