A representative of the Miss Italy beauty pageant said that the contestants participating in the competition should be a ‘women from birth’
The news has surfaced just weeks after a transgender woman Rikkie Kolle made history by becoming the first trans-gender woman to be crowned as Miss Netherlands.
What is the reason behind this decision which has been taken?
According to (I Primato Nazionale ) an Italian outlet’s report, Patrizia Mirigliani the official patron of Miss Italy, said to Radio Cusano that “ she considered transgender inclusivity efforts made by other beauty pageants to be "a bit absurd,"
She further told that “Ever since it was born, my contest has included in its regulations the specification that one must be a woman from birth, Probably because, even then, it was expected that beauty could undergo modifications, or that women could undergo modifications, or that men could become women,"
The main thing behind this statement was that, there are certain regulation and specification on which the competition has run so far and being a woman from birth is one of that.
Mirigliani by running this pageant competition is taking ahead the legacy of her father Enzo Mirigliani who began leading the pageant from 1959.
The story in the Other Country
Mirigliani’s statement on the pageant competition has just came after Rikkie Kolle in Netherlands was crowned as Miss Netherlands just a few weeks ago, which shows the other side of the story in a different country, where people doesn’t have problem regarding a transgender contestant winning country’s beauty pageant.
And she also took a movement for appreciating and telling others about what all she has faced being a trans during the competition by saying “And yes I am trans woman and I am happy to share my story, but I am also Rikkie," she added. "I did this in my own strength and enjoyed every moment."
Ahead of all things now, Rikkie is going to take part in the Miss Universe competition, which will make her just the second transgender person to compete in a Miss Universe competition after Angela Ponce.
