Former US President Donald Trump has announced that he will be interviewed by tech mogul Elon Musk on Monday night.

Making the announcement on his official Truth Social handle, Trump stated, “On Monday night, I'll be doing a major interview with Elon Musk — details to follow!"

This came as Democratic nominee Kamala Harris selected Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz as her running mate for the upcoming US presidential elections.

However, Musk has yet to comment on the interview on his social media platform, X. It is worth noting that in January 2021, Trump was banned from Twitter during the final days of his term as US President. However, after Musk took over the social media platform, Trump's X account was reinstated.

The news of the interview comes after Michigan election officials along with North Carolina Board of Elections launched a probe into the Donald Trump-supporting political action committee (PAC), which the Tesla CEO said he had created.

The probe centres on the allegations that the PAC has been scooping up and potentially misusing voter data.

The activities of PAC, a political action committee backing Donald Trump’s candidacy, are currently under scrutiny by both the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office and the Michigan Secretary of State.

As reported by CNBC, Elon Musk's PAC in the US has been called out for lifting personal information from people under the guise of voter registration. A recent report said that Tesla's political group has been collecting personal data from people in Michigan and other states through its website.

"While the America PAC is a federal political action committee, the Department is reviewing its activities to determine if there have been any violations of state law. We will refer potential violations to the Michigan Attorney General's office as appropriate," a Michigan Secretary of State’s spokesperson told CNBC.
