Police in the German city of Munich confirmed on Thursday that officers spotted a "person who appeared to be carrying a firearm" and shot at him, leaving the suspect injured. The incident took place near the Israeli General Consulate.
In a series of posts on X, the police said the incident took place at around 10 am at the Brienner Street and Karolinenplatz, in the heart of the city, which also hosts a Nazi history museum.
They added that there were "no reports of further injuries" currently and urged people to avoid the area until further notice.
A helicopter was also deployed in the ongoing police operation.
