Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 has had an impressive run at the box office, earning around Rs 580 crore in India over the last 42 days. This success has won over many fans, with people going back to theaters multiple times to see the film. There’s a lot of excitement about its OTT release.
While the original Stree is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, reports say the sequel will be available on Amazon Prime Video. The makers haven’t confirmed a release date yet, but the film is expected to start streaming on September 27, initially on a rental basis. If Stree 2 continues to do well in theaters, its OTT release might be pushed to October. Fans will have to wait until September 27 to see if they can watch it digitally this month.
Meanwhile, the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao film has etched its name in Bollywood history by surpassing the Rs 600 crore milestone in just 39 days. Directed by Amar Kaushik, this horror-comedy has exceeded all predictions, setting a new standard in the industry. With this feat, Stree 2 becomes the first Hindi film to hit this impressive figure, solidifying its status as an all-time blockbuster. The film surpassed the Rs 600 crore figure in its sixth week, overtaking Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and securing the title of highest-grossing Bollywood film at the Hindi box office.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “IT’S 600 PAAR… #Stree2 creates HISTORY as the *first #Hindi film* to achieve this milestone… From metros to non-metros, multiplexes to single screens and urban centres to mass markets, #Stree2 is an OUTRIGHT WINNER across the board. [Week 6] Fri 5.20 cr, Sat 3.80 cr, Sun 5.32 cr. Total: ₹ 604.22 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice.”
He also noted, “It would be premature to predict the *lifetime biz*, as #Stree2 has consistently surprised with phenomenal numbers day after day, week after week.”
