Poonam Pandey is alive. The Lock Upp fame finally came out in a video statement on Saturday morning and clarified that she is not dead. In the video, Poonam argued that the motive of her death news was to create awareness regarding cervical cancer.
“I am alive. I did not die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. It is not because they couldn’t do anything about it but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is preventable. All you have to do is, you have to get your tests done and you have to get HPV vaccine,” she said. Watch her video statement here:
Poonam Pandey’s ‘death’ news was first announced in a post shared on her official Instagram handle on Friday, February 2. “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” the post read.
Following the news, several celebrities including Kangana Ranaut and Anupam Kher took to their respective X handle to pay their tributes to the actress. However, Poonam’s sudden demise had also left the nation confused and many had already argued that it was nothing but a publicity stunt. Several people took to social media on Friday to post that the actress didn’t “look sick” and that sudden deaths are uncommon for cervical cancer patients.
