The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC announced that the 97th Oscars will take place on March 2, 2025 (March 3 in India). The Academy took to social media to announce the award show and nomination timeline on April 10. The 97th Academy Awards will take place at the prestigious Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
This year, the 96th Oscars took place on March 10 and the award show has been moved a week ahead in 2025. The nominations will be announced on January 17 after multiple rounds of selection.
In 2024, Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' won the Best Picture, while Cillian Murphy took home Best Actor for playing the role of American physicist J Oppenheimer in the biopic. Robert Downey Jr, who essayed the role of Lewis Strauss in 'Oppenheimer', won his first Oscar award.
'Oppenheimer' was nominated in 13 categories and won seven awards including, Best Actor, Best Film and Best Director. Emma Stone took home Best Actress and 'Poor Things' clinched many awards as well.
