It has been over four years since actor Kangana Ranaut had a hit to her credit. But, in her opinion, it doesn't matter because, before 'Pathaan', even Bollywood's superstar, Shah Rukh Khan had a slew of flops for ten years. She also called herself and Shah Rukh 'last generation of stars'.
While speaking at the Times Now Summit 2024, Kangana said she and Shah Rukh belong to the "last generation of stars". She opined, "OTT doesn't make stars. We are known faces. By the grace of God, we are very much in demand."
Kangana's last theatrical release 'Tejas' bombed at the ticket counters. Before the 2023 action thriller, her films like 'Judgementall Hai Kya', 'Thalaivii', 'Dhakad', and 'Chandramukhi 2' also couldn't bring people to the cinema halls.
She reacted to the failure of her films at the box office by quoting the example of Shah Rukh, who had a phenomenal 2023, with the success of 'Pathaan', 'Jawan', and 'Dunki'. Kangana said, "No actor in the world only has hits to their credit. Shah Rukh Khan's films didn't work for ten years and then Pathaan became a hit. My films didn't work for seven to eight years, but then 'Queen' worked. Then, some more hits came, then after 3–4 years, Manikarnika worked. Now, 'Emergency' is coming. Maybe it will become a hit."
Kangana Ranaut is all set to contest the Lok Sabha election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi on the BJP’s ticket. The actor is also awaiting the release of her film, 'Emergency', which will hit the theatres on June 14, 2024. The film will feature Kangana as India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
