Jr NTR's Devara: Part One opened on a record-breaking note at the domestic box office. The film grossed an opening of around Rs 90 crore, and collected Rs 77 crore nett on Friday, reported the trade website Sacnilk. This is the second-biggest opening for any Indian film this year, after Kalki 2898 AD, even surpassing the first-day business of Stree 2.
The Prabhas-starrer recorded a whopping Rs 95 crore nett in India on the first day, while the Amar Kaushik-directorial earned Rs 54.35 crore nett. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film was expected to start on a massive note at the box office, irrespective of the reviews. And it did exactly the same.
The maximum business, as could be seen in the advance sales as well, came from the Telugu market. The film collected Rs 68.6 crore nett from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone, while the Hindi market surprisingly fared better than expectations. Devara opened at Rs 7 crore in Hindi and is likely to grow from here, considering it is clear that the audience in the North is giving a chance to this action-drama.
As per the early prediction, Devara should collect in the range of Rs 120-125 crore gross at the worldwide box office. However, the global opening day earnings of the film are yet to be out.
As of now, it has emerged as the highest-grossing solo opener for both Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, who plays the female lead in the film. It is also the year's second-biggest opener, and is looking ahead to an even more sensational weekend.
