British rock band, Coldplay, is finally coming to India for a concert in 2025. The group first visited India and performed at the Global Citizen Festival in 2016 in Mumbai. This time they are returning for their first ever concert in Mumbai as part of their Music of Spheres tour, which has been on since 2022. As part of the tour, Coldplay performed at various locations across the globe, including Asia, Latin America, Europe, North America and Australia.
As per the announcement released by the entertainment platform, BookMyShow Live, Coldplay will perform in Mumbai at DY Patil Stadium on January 18 and 19, 2025. A mystery guest is said to be announced in the coming weeks. The tickets will go on sale on September 22 at 12 pm IST.
A statement read, “Coldplay have also confirmed they will make a limited number of Infinity Tickets available for the shows at 12 pm (IST) on Friday, November 22, 2024.” Infinity Tickets are released for every Coldplay show to make the Music Of The Spheres World Tour accessible to fans for an affordable price. They cost around €20 (Rs 2000) per ticket and must be bought in pairs. They are restricted to a maximum of two tickets per purchaser (which will be located next to each other). Location will be revealed when fans pick up their tickets in person at the box office on the day of the show and can be throughout the venue from the floor to the upper levels, side view seats and everywhere in between.
Meanwhile, their 2016 performance in India was less than 10 minutes, with Chris Martin, the lead vocalist of the group, singing along with AR Rahman, addressing the crowd in Hindi and more.
For those unaware, it was in 2021 that Coldplay released Music of the Spheres, an album heavily influenced by cosmic themes. They also collaborated with artists like BTS for the single, My Universe, which became a global hit.
Their music is known for being a blend of soft and melodic rock with lyrics reflecting themes of love, life, and pain. Their early albums, including, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) and X&Y (2005), cemented their reputation as one of the leading alternative rock bands before they went on to achieve massive success with albums like Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), which won them multiple Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for Viva la Vida.
Coldplay was formed in 1996 with Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide and remain as one of the most influential and commercially successful bands of the 21st century.
