Gurucharan Singh, famous for playing the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular TV show 'Taarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma', who was missing since April 22, returned home on Friday, police said.
The Delhi Police had filed a kidnapping case and a probe was underway to find the actor.
According to police, Singh told the officials during the interrogation that he had left his worldly life and was on a religious journey.
In the past few days, he stopped at Gurudwaras in many cities like Amritsar and Ludhiana, but later realised that he should return home, police said.
On April 22, the actor was supposed to catch a flight to Mumbai from Delhi; however, he did not board the flight and went missing. His phone number was active until April 24, through which multiple transactions were made, as revealed by a police investigation. CCTV footage from the day he went missing showed the actor walking with a bag on his back.
His father, Hargit Singh, filed a missing complaint on April 26, and an FIR was lodged under Section 365 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
During the investigation, a police officer stated that Singh's financial condition was not sound, as he had several loans and dues.
The cops also found that Singh was a follower of a sect that practices meditation and even showed interest in going to the Himalayas for meditation.
