India celebrates National Chartered Accountants Day every year on 1st July, in recognition of the achievements and contributions of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). The ICAI is India's top professional accounting organisation and acts as the country's regulatory and licencing body for the financial audit and accounting professions. It was founded in 1949 by the Indian Parliament.

The ICAI has always stood by the values of independence, honesty, and excellence, which are regarded as the foundations of the accounting profession. These guidelines guarantee that chartered accountants uphold the highest ethical standards and offer accurate financial data to businesses and stakeholders.

Being the second-largest accounting and statutory body globally, ICAI plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality and professionalism of the accounting and auditing practises in India. It sets standards for financial reporting, auditing, and assurance and also conducts examinations and grants membership to qualified individuals who meet the rigorous educational and professional requirements.

Chartered Accountants Day is an opportunity for ICAI to recognise and appreciate the significant contributions of its members to the growth and development of the accounting profession in India. The day often includes various events and activities organised by ICAI and its regional branches, such as seminars, conferences, panel discussions, and cultural programmes.

These gatherings give accounting professionals an opportunity for information exchange, networking, and professional growth. In addition, it acts as a reminder of their need to uphold the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and integrity in their work.

In general, National Chartered Accountants Day is an opportunity to recognise the achievements of the Indian Chartered Accountants Association (ICAI) and its members and to emphasise the importance of their contribution to India's financial ecosystem.
