Isha Kumari

Just a few days ago, on June 22, a bridge over the Gandak canal in Siwan, East Champaran, collapsed. This bridge, which connected Maharajganj and Daronda blocks, was 34 years old. On the same night of June 22, an under-construction bridge collapsed in Amawara , Ghodasahan Prakhand of East champaran. This bridge was being built on the road leading from Amawa to Chainpur station. The upper part of the bridge had collapsed in the evening, and by nightfall, it had completely collapsed.

Earlier, on June 18, news emerged of another under-construction bridge collapsing in Sikti Prakhand of Araria district. This bridge was being built to connect Sikti and Kursakanta blocks of Araria.

After these incidents came to light, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar formed committees to identify the reasons behind these bridge collapses. A committee member stated that the causes behind these incidents could be categorized into three types: natural, man-made, and geo-technical.
