One of Dr. Kalam’s biggest achievements was leading the development of India’s first satellite launch vehicle (SLV-III). In 1980, under his guidance, the SLV-III successfully launched the Rohini satellite into space. This was a major milestone for India and showcased the country's growing space technology capabilities. Dr. Kalam’s success in this project earned him a reputation as a leading scientist and innovator. Dr. Kalam’s influence wasn’t limited to space technology.

He also played a crucial role in India’s nuclear program. His work on the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998 helped establish India as a key player in the global nuclear field. These tests were important for India’s national security and highlighted Dr. Kalam’s role in strengthening the country’s defense.

From 2002 to 2007, Dr. Kalam served as the 11th President of India. His time in office was marked by his genuine connection with the people, especially the youth. Known for his humility and approachability, he was affectionately called the “People’s President.” Dr. Kalam used his position to motivate and inspire young Indians, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and contribute to the nation’s progress.

Dr. Kalam’s sudden death on July 27, 2015, while giving a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, was a great loss. His passing left a significant gap, as he had been a source of inspiration for many people across the country.
