KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir votes in New Delhi day before IPL 2024 Final

JJ News Desk

KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir exercised his right to vote in New Delhi a day before the Indian Premier League Final in Chennai. Gambhir will now fly out to Chennai to join his team for the finale vs SRH. Gambhir, who has been a rock for KKR this season has been able to guide his team to the final of the tournament in a dominant fashion. After topping the group stage with 9 wins from 14 games, KKR beat SRH in a dominant manner in Ahmedabad to qualify for the final. KKR will once again meet SRH in the summit clash on Sunday, 26 May in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium.

KKR have had the better of SRH in both times they have met this season. KKR played their tournament opener against SRH and just about clinched the game at their home venue of Eden Gardens in a final over thriller. KKR's second meet in Ahmedabad in the Qualifier 1 was much more straightforward as the side had the better of SRH in all three departments of the game.

One of Gambhir's major moves this season after joining the team was to re-evaluate the role of Sunil Narine. Narine's new role at the opening position has worked wonders for him and the team as the spinner has been one of the tournament's most valuable players this season. In IPL 2024 Narine scored his maiden T20 century and has looked menacing with the ball as well.

Gambhir's competitive mentality has shown throughout KKR's campaign as the team has fought fiercely on and off the pitch. KKR have peaked at the right time in the tournament, with the rest of players coming into form in the playoffs stage. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy did extremely well in the playoffs vs SRH and are rightly being dubbed as the favourites to win the title this season.
