India coach job: Narendra Modi, Shah Rukh among names used by fake applicants

BCCI have received around 3400 fake applications for the position of head coach including names of some prominent personalities like Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Shah Rukh Khan. 27 May was the last day for the individuals who wanted to apply for the head coach job and now the BCCI will have to sift through the applications to choose their ideal candidate.

In the scrutiny, BCCI realised that they have received applications in the names of Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Virender Sehwag, Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and many more which BCCI identified as fake ones.

BCCI had opened up an application for head coach of the men's team for which hunt is still on. Fake applications are nothing new to BCCI last time also BCCI received several fake applications.

A BCCI source said that the organisation might opt for a different method next time around to reduce the hassle of going through fake applications.

"Since the application process is in the public domain fans and many people can easily access the form, which is available in the website on BCCI. We may think of reducing all these things going forward we may come up with some new processes of inviting applications which will rule out fake applications.

KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir is reported to be one of the favourites to become the head coach of the Indian team. Gambhir, who mentored KKR to the Indian Premier League 2024, was one of the names which was floated in the Indian media reports. Before that, two former Australian cricketers Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting had come out and said that they did not have interest in becoming the head coach of the side as it was an extremely demanding job.
