Watch: Mumbaikars Take To Railway Tracks As Local Train Service Fails

JJ News Desk

MUMBAI: A video has gone viral on social media, showing commuters walking along railway tracks between Matunga and Sion in Mumbai after a major disruption in local train services on early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 7.25am, leading to a stoppage in fast local train services. This disruption caused significant delays for thousands of office-goers and commuters. As a result, many commuters opted to walk along the tracks to reach their workplace.

The disruption was caused by a bamboo structure falling onto the high-tension overhead wire, halting local train services on the Main Line for nearly an hour.

Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, explained that the bamboo structure was part of a construction adjacent to the railway line. He stated, "The power supply to the overhead wire had to be switched off for the safe removal of the debris. Train services on this line resumed around 8:20 am."
