Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, who has been suffering from lower back pain for the past 10 days, on Thursday posted a video of himself at an election rally. In an X post, Yadav showed a belt tied around his waist, as he claimed he has been on painkiller injections and medicines.
Yadav also said he chose to step between the people for elections, even after having been advised bed rest for three weeks.
"Due to unbearable back pain, I am roaming around among you with painkiller injections and medicines. I have also tied a belt around my waist now," a rough translation of Tejashwi Yadav's post in Hindi suggested.
"The doctors have advised me to take bed rest for three weeks and not to stand or walk," he tweeted.
"Even in this situation, I am amongst you, for you. Elections happen once in five years, if I don't fight for you now, then you will have to bear poverty, inflation and unemployment for another five years. I will not sit quiet until I provide jobs to the youth," his tweet in translated English read.
On May 6, Tejashwi got a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test done at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) Hospital in Bihar's Patna.
His medical reports later suggested he had been suffering from pain in his spinal segment.
In another video, posted on his X handle, Tejashwi Yadav could be seen in a wheelchair as he spoke to reporters.
The Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases, from April 19 to June 1.
The votes will be counted on June 4.
