Swati Maliwal undergoes medical check-up, has internal injuries on face: Sources

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who was allegedly assaulted by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, suffered internal injuries in her face, as per a medico-legal case report. Maliwal underwent a medical check-up at AIIMS, Delhi, on Friday that lasted for over three hours.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has intensified its search for Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar a day after an FIR was registered in connection with the case. The FIR was registered after Maliwal's statement was recorded by a Delhi Police team at her residence.

In her complaint, the former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief alleged that Bibhav Kumar slapped, kicked, beat her with a stick, and punched her in the stomach.

SWATI MALIWAL ASSAULT CASE: LATEST UPDATES

Swati Maliwal underwent a medical check-up for about four hours on Thursday night. A Delhi Police team reached AIIMS with Maliwal at 11 pm and left at 3.15 am. Delhi Commission for Women member Vandana Singh also accompanied Maliwal. An X-ray and CT scan were done.

In her complaint, Swati Maliwal has alleged that she was physically assaulted and hit multiple times on "sensitive body parts", police sources said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has intensified its probe into the case. A police team reached Bibhav Kumar's residence, but he was not found.

Around 10 police teams are engaged in investigating the case, of which four teams are tracing Bibhav's location. Sources said Bibhav could be in Amritsar. Police also suspect Bibhav could be in Mahrashtra a rally of the INDIA bloc is scheduled to be held in the state.

Meanwhile, Swati Maliwal's statement may be recorded today under Section 164 in the case, police sources said. Under Section 164, the statement given by the victim is recorded before a judge.
