The Supreme Court has agreed to urgently hear Arvind Kejriwal's plea against arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liqour policy case. A special bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice MM Sundresh and Justice Bela Dwivedi will hear the arrested Delhi Chief Minister's plea. The hearing will happen even as protests broke out in Delhi by AAP supporters against Kejriwal's arrest, following the party's call for a nationwide stir. The AAP has also invited the INDIA bloc to join the protest.
Kejriwal is the first sitting Chief Minister to be arrested. According to sources, he couldn't sleep at night in ED custody and was provided with blankets and medicines that his family gave him from home.
Kejriwal was arrested from his residence on Thursday evening after the Enforcement Directorate questioned him and searched his house. He was taken to the federal agency's headquarters where he spent the night.
