India has not received anything specific and worthy of being pursued by its investigative agencies, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Monday in response to a fourth arrest made by Canada in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Speaking at a press conference, Jaishankar said New Delhi was open to a probe if Ottawa shared any evidence or information related to any violence that is relevant to be investigated by India.

"We have never received anything, which is specific and worthy of being pursued by our investigative agencies, and I am not aware that anything has changed in the last few days in that regard," he said.

As a consular practice, it is informed to the government or the embassy of the country of origin when arrests of foreign nationals are made, Jaishankar added.

On June 18 last year, Nijjar was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Canada's Surrey. His name had been included in a list released by the Indian government with 40 other 'designated terrorists'.

Canadian police said on Saturday that a fourth Indian national has been arrested in connection with the killing of Nijjar, a week after police arrested three Indians linked with the high-profile case that has severely strained India's relations with Canada.

Amandeep Singh, 22, a resident of the Brampton, Surrey, and Abbotsford areas of Canada, was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

In September last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged Indian involvement in the killing of Nijjar. His claim was rejected by India, which called it "absurd and motivated".
