Parliament Monsoon Session from July 22 to August 9: Sources

The Monsoon Session of Parliament will run from July 22 to August 9, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expected to present the budget on the first day, sources said.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin on July 22, sources have said. The session is likely to continue until August 9.

The government is also likely to present the full Budget for 2024-2025 during the Monsoon Session, with the Finance Ministry starting its pre-consultation Budget meetings with various ministries and stakeholders by June 17.

The Session is also likely to cover the oath/affirmation of newly elected members, the election of the speaker, the President's address, and subsequent discussions.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijuju in a post on X said that the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will be held from June 24 to July 3.

On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Interim Budget 2024-25, highlighting the government’s economic achievements during the past 10 years and how the nation has transformed into one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

The Finance Minister maintained the government's focus on creating jobs through a sustained infrastructure push, in addition to prioritising groups such as farmers, youth, women, and the poorest households.

Meanwhile, a special 8-day session of Parliament is slated to commence on June 24, during which, the election of the Lok Sabha speaker is likely to be held on June 26, sources told.

On June 24 and 25, new Members of Parliament will be taking their oaths, according to the sources.
