A woman studying in Tamil Nadu's Theni district was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted by a gang, the police said on Monday. The student was found at a railway station.

The second-year nursing student left her hometown on a bus. Police sources say that she called her father to inform him that a woman wearing a black dress was following her.

The student’s phone was unreachable, leading to her father approaching Theni Police station.

She was found later at Dindigul railway station, where she had approached the police and told them that she had been abducted nearly 50 km away from the station, sexually assaulted and left at the railway station.

The student was taken to a government hospital where she is undergoing treatment. District Superintendent of Police Pradeep visited the hospital for an inquiry.

The cops are finding it challenging to question the student as she reportedly went through an epileptic attack while being questioned.

All Women Police has registered a case under two sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and have initiated an investigation.
